Master the Mundane
There's a quote on my gym's wall the that says "mastering the mundane over time produces dominant athletes"
I would change dominant "athletes" to dominant "people"
A lot of people are mistaken in thinking that I LOVE working out
The truth is, I love the results and the feeling that working out gives me after I'm done
The pump
The boost in confidence
How much sharper & happier my mind is
But the truth is that the workout itself isn't that enjoyable for me
There are only so many exercises you can do, especially after 14 years.
I'm often doing the same movements and repetitions over and over again
Week after week
Month after month
Year after year
I push myself every single time I hit the iron, but it is boring and mundane
On top of that, I don't feel like going to the gym 4/5 days of the week before I start my workout
Its rare that I go into workouts REALLY pumped to workout beforehand. That only happens about once a week.
But I'm always pumped with myself after
That I pushed myself and mastered the mundane.
Its not a pretty truth, because the mundane is boring if you have the wrong mindset
But life changes once you practice mastering the mundane and embrace it
